Child Memory with 101 Dalmatian

Back in 1996, Disney released a family movie, titled 101 Dalmatian. Movie about kidnaping two adult dalmatians and 99 puppy dalmatian by the main antagonist, Cruella De Vil. I have an sweet memory with this movie. This was the movie that watched in movie theatre with my whole family.  I was a 7-years old on that time.

I can little bit remember the environment of the movie theatre on that time event though the original building had not exist and rebuilt with new movie theatre. The building had 2 floors. The first floor used for supermarket and the second floor used for movie theatre. The other famous movie that played in the same day was Evita Peron Movie cast by Madonna. And I can remember the coming soon movie was Space Jam by Warner Bros.

The Dalmatian played about 4 p.m but we came late about 30 minutes. My father gave me two option, we watched another movie, Evita Peron because the ticket box for that movie has opened or bought me a compilation cassette contain a Boyzone hit song “Word” that I found in the supermarket. I insisted to watched 101 Dalmatian. My father little bit angry with my choice because he has appointment with neighbour at 7 p.m and the next session of 101 Dalmatian movie would finish at 8 p.m. 

After one hour waiting for, the ticket box was open. This was the first time I watch in movie theatre and my maybe the only one I watch movie in theatre with my whole family. It’s still my sweet child memory.

Bandung Angkot Day

Kalau bicara mengenai Kota Bandung, tentu tidak lepas dari angkot. Angkot adalah alat transportasi andalan warga Bandung. Ditengah semakin padatnya lalu lintas kota Bandung akibat di penuhi kendaraan pribadi terutama pada saat “Peak Hour“. Namun dari sisi pengguna angkot sendiri banyak keraguan untuk menggunakannya.

Rawan kriminalitas di angkot dengan adanya berita-berita kriminal di media massa, tarif mahal akibat kenaikan BBM dan lebih hemat secara pengeluaran jika dibandingkan dengan kendaraan pribadi, dan seringnya ngetem sehingga bisa terlambat dalam berkegiatan. Namun dari sudut pandang supir angkot, mereka punya alasan tersendiri. Kriminalitas di angkot tidak setiap saat terjadi, butuh pendapatan yang lebih untuk memenuhi setoran dan kebutuhan hidup sehari-hari. Masalah ngetem pun mereka anggap wajar karena tidak mungkin angkot berjalan tanpa penumpang karena dari mana nanti dapat penghasilannya.

“Yo lapa lapa (Kalapa), hari ini gratis ak”

Bandung Angkot Day adalah gerakan angkot gratis agar warga Bandung yang semula memakai kendaraan pribadi beralih ke angkot yang dilakukan pada tanggal 20  September dari pukul lima pagi hingga pukul tujuh malam. Hanya satu trayek yang diberlakukan bebas biaya yaitu trayek Kalapa – Dago. Kebetulan sekali trayek ini yang selalu saya gunakan untuk mulai beraktifitas setiap paginya. Seperti biasa saya mulai aktifitas pagi dengan menunggu angkot, namun pagi ini beda. Saya sengaja menunggu angkot dengan trayek Kalapa – Dago. Bisa dibilang angkot hijau strip orange ini cukup sering lewat. Kira-kira lima menit sekali saya pasti menjumpainya. Yang menarik pagi itu adalah sapaan supir angkot ketika saya masuk, “Yo lapa lapa (Kalapa), hari ini gratis ak”. Tidak hanya itu, angkot sama sekali tidak ngetem, dan spesialnya lagi supirnya pun tidak ngerem mendadak seperti biasanya ketika menaikan atau pun menurunkan penumpang.

Memang secara tarif, untuk jarak dekat termasuk mahal. Untuk jarak sekitar 1.5 km saja saya harus mengeluarkan dua ribu rupiah. Namun jika dibanding kota lain, pemberlakuan tarif progresif bisa dikatakan tidak terlalu mahal karena ada istilah jika kita naik bus “Jauh Dekat Seribu” walau sekarang tarif bus sudah mencapai tiga ribu rupiah. Disisi lain, naik angkot itu tidak secapek jika dibandingkan menggunakan kendaraan pribadi apalagi ketika.Memang mungkin dari segi keamanan dan kenyamanan perlu ditingkatkan mulai dari etika menyupir hingga peremajaan angkot. Tentu, event ini akan sia-sia jika tidak ada peran dari kedua belah pihak baik penumpang yang mulai berpindah dari transportasi pribadi ke transportasi publik ataupun dari supir dan pengelola untuk lebih bertanggung jawab dengan penumpangnya dengan meningkatkan keamanan dan kenyamanan.

Edge of the Era: Studio 123 Singosaren Surakarta

Indonesia has movie theater’s history. They existed since colonial era. The first movie theater was establish in 1990 and located in Jakarta. Until 90’s, there’re many movie theater scattered in every city in Indonesia. But, since moneter crisis hit Indonesia’s econimic in 1998, there’re many movie theater collapsed. The reason was there’re many pirated movie circulated in Indonesia so people didn’t need to go to movie theater. Only one company network survived with this condition and still exist until this article was written which will called first class movie theater in this article.

Yogyakarta, place where I lived also has long movie theater’s history since colonial era. But since moneter crisis, only some movie theater can survive and in the mid 2010, the last second class movie theater was closed. Only 2 movie theaters were remaining. Luckily, 60 kilometers northwest from place I lived. Located in Surakarta City or people usually call Solo City, there’s second class movie theater still operated. Physically, you can saw the theater from outside beside this theater on the third floor of department store, it’s also no sign of the theater but an abandon old sign “Studio 123”. Moviegoer  only noticed there’s theater if only went to the third floor of the building and there will be a three poster.

Ticket price was 15.000 rupiahs or abaout 1.5 US Dollars. Less than half price than ticket in first class movie theater.

When I and my girlfriend went to the that movie theater, there’re 3 movie which played on that time. Splinter, Bunraku, and Mother’s Day. It’s the first time we went there. Actually I don’t understand all of those films. I even didn’t know what kind of those film. After the ticket box open, I bought to ticket but when the ticket seller as for film, I really confused which one I must choose, then an officer told me if Splinter and Bunraku would be play soon. He told me about the film. Splinter is a horror movie and Bunraku is little bit japanese film theme. Finally I chose Bunraku.
The film would be play but I didn’t see another moviegoer except us. Bunraku played on studio 2, as the theater name “Studio 123”, it also has 3 studio. In front of studio 2’s gates, there was one officer who collect the ticket, further more surprisingly, he also officer who rolled the projector. There’s no seat number too. We sat near the studio’s door because surprisingly only us who watch on this studio.

Physically, the studio condition was good, has comfort seat, and clean but the picture wasn’t clear enough and also the sound was bad. I can hear clearly. But when enjoy the movie, I remembered my childhood memory. The situation and condition from the studio was same as studio in 90’s era. Different condition with first class movie theater right now which have modern technology. I didn’t know how much moviegoer watching movie in this theater, even though there’s not many moviegoer watch in this place every single day, but until right now the movie theater still operated. For people who had memory about 90’s era of movie theater or someone who want to enjoy movie in different situation, you should try to watch movie in this theater. Even though the movie wasn’t good enough because the second class movie theater has difficulty to get premiere movie. This is can happen because there’s a movie distribution monopoly from first class movie theater network.

Then film end, and unluckily we had chose the longest movie. More than two hours we watched the movie with just only us in a one big room. On more, the projector turn of when we’re step outside even though the movie still on the credit section and we still in front of the studio’s door. Never had experience in movie theater like that before.

ART JOG 2013: Maritime Culture

The biggest annual art fair in Jogjakarta held from July, 6th till 20th in Taman Budaya Yogyakarta. For this year “Maritime Culture” has been chosen as theme due the Indonesia has long period of history related to the maritime culture it self. Like the previous year, the look of the building also decorated related with the theme that has been chosen. For this time, the look of the building decorated with 360 flatten barrels which represented as hull. There were 158 artwork from 115 artist who participating in this event. The artwork consists of 58 painting, 24 installation works, 9 videos, 9 sculpture, 2 kinetic artwork, and the rest is photographic works.
There were 3 best artwork from best young artist that has been chosen. With no order, this were the artwork.

Noah’s Ark by Theresia Agustina Sitompul

The title of this artwork was “Noah’s Ark” by Theresia Agustina Sitompul. It made use concrete steel and aluminium. She was one of the best young artist in this event. As your info, one of the criteria who could become young artist was the age below 33. And the second one artwork has a title “Megaptera Novalevitae Series” by Michael Binuko Sri Herawan. Thw art work made by ballpoint on paper, resin, and etchings.

The last but not lease was “Behind Territory Lines(Conflict And Agreement)” by Hary Prasetyo made by mixed media on cad tracing paper. This artwork told about how was Indonesia look from its territory. Indonesia had a large coast line than other country. As country consist of many islands, Indonesia has a big glory in history on Majapahit’s era and Srivijaya’s era. It could happen because Indonesia had very strong maritime power but today, Indonesia wasn’t as strong as those era especially on maritime culture.

Beside those artwort, there was flipped VW Beetle made from wood that transform to an boat. The title was “Pesisir” or “Coast” in english by Eddi Prabandono. The VW Beetle had give boat motor on behind so it looked like half flipped VW Beetle and half of boat.

“Finding Lunang” by Iwan Effendi feat Papermoon Puppet Theatre  which located in front of Taman Budaya Yogyakarta building had an unique artwork. It had form like merry-go-round which there were several hand-made wood dolls turn around on it. The Papermoon Puppet also will held a perform on July, 13th and 14th 2013 in the same place.

I also had chose the best artwork among all. For me, the best artwork was duo flying ship which had very great detail. There was a big city above the ship. From the title, I can guess that the artist imagine if there were no sea in earth so people create and flying ship. They also built a city above the ship. The artwork called “World Without Sea” by Yudi Sulistyo. It made by paper, iron pipe, pvc pipe, wood, found object, and paint.

There were many other artwork that you could see. Better if you come to visit this event so you can appreciate all of the artwork.

Mocca has Come to Town

Mocca, the band originally from Bandung that decided to vacuum since the vocalist move to United State has come to Yogyakarta. Arina, the vocalist spent for 3 months in Indonesia and the band has some concert plan in some city in Indonesia include Yogyakarta. Since they already decide to vacuum and only held a concert when Arina come to Indonesia, I think the concert would be really worth. Took a VIP seat even though on the last row but still have a clear view to see Mocca perform. This was my first time to see their show. The show held on May,19th in Taman Budaya Yogyakarta.

After some opening ceremony and opening perform, finally this was it. “Telephone” has become the opening song. Some song “I Love You Anyway”, “You Don’t Even Know Me”, “Dear Diary”, even the song in Bahasa “Hanya Satu”. Arina also invited the audience to join her sang in “Do What You Wanna Do”. Arina said if they wanted to play 33 song but I didn’t really count how much song they have played then the last song “Me and My Boy Friend”

The show has finish but wait, I saw some personnel came back to the stage and also Arina. They came back to play about 4-5 song. I couldn’t remember it well but I could see Mocca closer because the audience  advance toward the stage. Some audience invited by Arina to dance with her. That was an amazing show.

Aurette And The Polska Seeking Carnival on FKY 25

Aurette And The Polska Seeking Carnival (AATPSC) yang merupakan band asal Yogyakarta yang mengusung aliran folk. Meskipun baru pertama kali menonton penampilan AATPSC , ini kali kedua dan salah satu alasan menyempatkan waktu di FKY malam kedua ini.Tidak semua lagu saya hafal namun beberapa lagu seperti Abimanyu, I Love You More Than a Pizza, dan tentu saja Wonderland sudah familiar di telinga. Band ini menurut saya sangat unik karena beberapa instrument yang dimainkan masih sangat jarang digunakan pada umumnya seperti acordion, ukulele, conga, dan marching bells. Sempat terjadi hal yang unik ditengah acara karena ada seorang anak kecil yang menari-nari mengikuti irama yang dimainkan oleh AATPSC di atas panggung. AATPSC pun mengakhiri gig mereka dengan membawa lagu penutup “Wonderland”.

Acara dilanjutkan dengan penampilan dari The Monophones dan Individual Life. Ini adalah kali pertama saya melihat penampilan mereka. Namun sayang, penampilan Indiviual Life terhenti ditengah acara dikarenakan hujan.

Festival Kesenian Yogyakarta 25

Festival Kesenian Yogyakarta merupakan acara tahunan yang digelar oleh pemerintah setiap tahunnya dan pada tahun 2013 ini telah menginjakkan tahun ke 25. Jika pada tahun-tahun sebelumnya acara rutin digelar di Beteng Vredeburg, pada tahun ini acara di gelar Plaza Ngasem.
Tema FKY ke 25 ini mengambil tema rekreasi yang memiliki dua makna yaitu re-kreasi atau berkreasi kembali dimana FKY merupakan tempat para seniman untuk dapat membuat atau mencipta kembali karya seni dan makna yang kedua berarti rekreasi atau penyegaran kembali pikiran. Logo pada tahun ini yang berupa anyaman memiliki arti bahwa FKY dapat menjadi tempat untuk para seniman untuk berkreasi.

Pada malam pembukaan FKY 2013(25/6) dipimpin oleh perwakilan gubernur Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, para penonton diajak untuk meluncurkan kincir yang merupakan salah satu mainan tradisional khas Yogyakarta namun bedanya kincir ini telah dimodifikasi dengan diberi lampu yang menyala merah dan biru secara bergantian. Ketika aba-aba dari MC untuk mempersilakan penonton untuk meluncurkan kincirnya, penonton pun dengan semangat meluncurkan kincir keatas sehingga terlihat luncuran cahaya berwarna merah dan biru di lokasi FKY 2013.
Acara pertama diisi oleh Acapela Mataraman yang menyebut namanaya sebagai “Laskar Cangkem” atau dalam bahasa Indonesia berarti “Laskar Mulut”. Yang unik dari kelompok ini adalah grup acapela ini sangat kental dengan nuansa jawa modern baik dari penampilan dipanggung ataupun lagu yang dibawakan.Acara yang ditunggu pun tiba, tradigital yang merupakan hasil perpaduan banyak seniman menampilkan pertunjukan video mapping pada bangunan Pulo Cemeti, diikuti dengan tari tradisional yang pada pertengahan bagian dipadu dengan penampilan dari seorang DJ.

Cut The Rope Time Travel

The newest Cut The Rope series, Cut The Rope Time Travel has send Om Nom to travel the time and meet partner form other era. In this new series, we should feed the 2 main character with 2 candies each. There are six level that we can play for free. There are The Middle Age, The Renaissance, Pirate Ship, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, and The Stone Age. Although the game has the same game play, we can find the new tools we can use to feed the main character for example blade, freeze button, and bomb. Like the other game, the developer also give a shortcut to finish the level using a telekinesis which is can we use to move the candy easily. And this is the screenshoot from the game. Hope you can enjoy this game.
